DENTAL CARE:
The Importance of Dental Care for Pets
Many people are unaware of just how crucial dental services are for pets. Even well-meaning pet owners often fail to realize that their four-legged family members can suffer from pain and other unpleasant symptoms due to insufficient dental care.
Pets with periodontal disease may experience:
-
Pain
-
Dropping food while eating
-
Refusal to eat
-
Tooth discoloration
-
Foul-smelling breath
-
Loose or missing teeth
-
Bleeding gums
-
Infections
-
Heart, kidney, and liver damage
-
Premature death
Even if you brush your dog or cat’s teeth at home, they need regular checkups and professional cleanings. During their dental surgery appointment, we’ll take digital dental x-rays and then examine and clean their teeth both above and below the gum line. We’ll also search for signs of periodontal disease and address any problems we may find. All dental services are performed while the patient is under general anesthesia to ensure comfort and safety.
